The gearbox oil cooler plays a critical role in regulating the temperature of automatic transmission fluid (ATF). As the Tiptronic transmission operates - especially during towing, spirited driving, hill climbs, or hot ambient conditions - ATF can heat up significantly. This cooler transfers excess heat from the transmission fluid into the engine’s cooling circuit or air stream, helping maintain the proper fluid temperature range.
