Information
Gearbox cylindrical roller bearing. 40 x 90 x 23
OE Match spec cylindrical roller bearing used in the manual gearbox/transmission of many Porsche models. It is sized 40 mm (inner) × 90 mm (outer) × 23 mm and is engineered to deliver reliable rotational support under high load conditions. This bearing is manufactured to match original Porsche specifications for fit, durability and performance.
Fits:
Porsche 911 Carrera 1987 - 1989 Manual 5-Speed
Porsche 930 Turbo 1989 Manual 5-Speed
Porsche 964 C2 / C4 / RS / Turbo 1989 - 1994
Porsche 993 1995 - 1998
Porsche 996 Turbo / GT2 2001 - 2005
Porsche 997 GT2 / GT2 RS 2008 - 2011
Porsche 996 GT3 2000 - 2005
Porsche 997 GT3 2007 - 2009

This cylindrical roller bearing allows smooth, low-friction rotation of gearbox shafts and associated components - particularly supporting countershafts, pinion shafts or output shafts depending on application. It helps to: Reduce internal friction for efficient power transfer. Support heavy radial loads within the gearbox. Maintain alignment and rotational precision of rotating components. Extend gearbox life by minimising wear on other transmission parts.
Function
In a manual gearbox, precision bearings handle radial and axial loads while components rotate at high speed. A cylindrical roller bearing like 99911011901 uses multiple rollers to increase load capacity and distribute stress evenly - making it suitable for demanding transmission environments. They are commonly employed on gearbox countershafts and output shafts to provide support and smooth rotation.
Gearbox bearings wear with time due to heat, load, and continuous rolling motion. A worn or failing bearing can cause:
• Gear noise or rumble
• Rough or imprecise shifting
• Increased transmission wear
• Vibration or loss of smoothness
• Premature gearbox failure
Replacing worn bearings with OE Match quality parts restores correct internal support, improves transmission feel, reduces noise and prolongs the life of your gearbox. Regular maintenance or rebuilds almost always include renewed bearings for best performance.
Replace this bearing if you notice:
• Persistent transmission noise or whining
• Vibration or unusual gear feel
• Gearbox overhaul / rebuild service
• Rough or inconsistent shifting
• Metal particles in transmission fluid
