Creates a seal or barrier along the inside edge of the bonnet, contacting the bonnet to the frame. Helps prevent ingress of water, dust, and debris into the engine bay. Also helps reduce rattling or vibration of the bonnet edge.
It also helps maintain correct alignment and fit of the bonnet’s inner edges. Because body panels flex, having a proper sealing rail keeps the bonnet closing and sealing correctly.
Symptoms / Signs That It Needs Replacing:
- The bonnet edge feels loose or rattly, or the bonnet does not close flush or may misalign slightly.
