The Fabspeed Porsche 970 Panamera V6 XperTune Performance Software is a custom ECU calibration designed to improve the performance and drivability of the 3.6-litre V6 Porsche Panamera.

Rather than replacing a mechanical engine component, XperTune modifies the software calibration within the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU). The tune optimises selected engine-management parameters to make better use of the engine's available performance while taking the individual vehicle and its modifications into account.
The supplied XperTune handheld device connects through the Porsche's OBD-II diagnostic port, allowing the factory ECU file to be read and a custom Fabspeed calibration to be installed without removing and shipping the ECU.
Fabspeed lists the 3.6L V6 at 296 HP / 295 TQ in standard form and 314 HP / 310 TQ with its tune. These are manufacturer-reported figures from a specific test vehicle; actual results will vary according to vehicle condition, specification, fuel, modifications and environmental conditions.
What This Product Does:
The ECU controls many of the functions required to operate the engine correctly.
Its software calibration determines how the engine-management system responds to operating conditions and driver inputs.
Fabspeed XperTune provides a vehicle-specific performance calibration intended to optimise the engine's operation for improved performance and drivability.
Depending on the vehicle and its configuration, the tune is designed to provide benefits such as:
- Increased horsepower
- Increased torque
- Improved throttle response
- Sharper engine response
- Improved power delivery
- Better use of supporting performance modifications
- More responsive overall driving characteristics
The calibration is created using information about the individual vehicle and its existing modifications.
Custom ECU Calibration:
XperTune is not simply a physical plug-in power module.
The handheld device is used to communicate with the factory ECU and install a custom software calibration.
The basic process involves:
- Connecting the XperTune device to the vehicle's OBD-II port.
- Reading the original ECU information.
- Transferring the factory file using a compatible Windows PC.
- Providing Fabspeed with the required vehicle and modification information.
- Receiving the custom calibration.
- Loading the tune onto the XperTune device.
- Flashing the new calibration to the vehicle through the OBD-II port.
This avoids the need to remove the ECU and send it away for conventional bench flashing.
XperTune Device Considerations:
- The XperTune handheld device is electronically paired, or "married," to the vehicle.
- Fabspeed states that the device can only be used with one vehicle.
- This is particularly important when purchasing, transferring or replacing tuning equipment.
- A device already paired with another vehicle should not be assumed to work with a different Panamera.
Why Upgrade To Fabspeed XperTune:
A healthy factory ECU does not need to have failed for XperTune to be installed.
This product is primarily a performance upgrade.
