- The tail pipes direct exhaust gases safely out the back of the vehicle. They are the visible end section of the exhaust system.~
- They also serve aesthetic and finishing roles — giving the rear a polished, completed look, often with chrome or specific styling to match the rear bumper cutouts.
- Rust, corrosion or pitting on the tail pipe surface (especially the chrome or finish).
- Dents, bending or damage from road debris, curbs, or impacts.
- Loose fit or play — the tail pipe loosening from its mount, rattling or vibrating.
- Unusual exhaust noise around the tail end, indicating leaks or gaps at the joint.
- Mismatch in appearance (one side damaged while the other still looks good).
- Maintains visual integrity and factory look of the rear of the car. Tail pipes are one of the most visible parts of the exhaust.
