What This Product Does
The gasket seals the manifold joint, helping keep exhaust gases within the intended passage. Its crushable form accommodates the mating faces as the joint is clamped.
Functions
- Seals the exhaust manifold connection.
- Helps limit gas escape and associated blowing noise.
- Provides a replacement sealing interface during manifold repairs.
Technical Details
- Part reference: 99611110755.
- Each supplied assembly diagram specifies two gaskets; this is the vehicle requirement, not a pack quantity.
- 996 diagram applications: M96.01/02/04 up to 2001; M96.03 from 2002.
- 986 diagram applications: M96.20, M96.21/22 and M96.23/24.
- 997.1 diagram applications: M96.05 3.6L Coupé/Cabriolet and M97.01 3.8L Coupé S/Cabriolet S, 2005–08.
- 987C.1 Cayman diagram identifies engine/model references 9721 and 9720 and specifies associated bolt 99907507400.
Symptoms of Fault
- Ticking, hissing or blowing near the manifold joint.
- Black deposits around the sealing faces.
- Exhaust odour associated with a leaking connection.
Why Replacement Matters
Heat cycling and compression can leave a used gasket unable to seal again after dismantling. Renewing it when separating the joint helps address leakage, but damaged flanges, uneven clamping and poor alignment also require attention.
FAQs
- Should the removed gasket be fitted again?
A fresh gasket is recommended because the compressed original may not reseal. - Is sealing compound required?
Use the applicable Porsche and gasket installation instructions rather than assuming compound is necessary. - What should be checked if leakage returns?
Inspect flange condition, manifold alignment and fasteners for uneven clamping.

Located between the manifold / heat exchanger and the catalytic converter / exhaust pipe connection on Porsche models using the M96 / M97 / M98 engines.
Original gaskets may deteriorate over time due to heat, corrosion, and mechanical stress, allowing exhaust gases to escape. Leaks at this junction can cause noise, performance loss, and potential exposure of heat to nearby parts. An OE-Match version restores correct sealing, prevents leaks, and helps preserve the intended exhaust behaviour.
