Engine tin rain tube funnel grommet
This silicone sleeve fits into the engine shelf and supports the rain tray drip tube. It is supplied individually, with two required per car and one fitted on each side.
Fits
- Porsche 914 1970–1976
Diagram ref no 19
What This Product Does
The grommet locates the rain tray drain tube where it passes through the engine tinware. It cushions and supports the tube while helping to close the surrounding gap, maintaining separation between the upper engine compartment and the hotter area below.
Functions
- Holds the rain tray drip tube in its correct position
- Protects the tube where it passes through the engine shelf
- Closes the opening around the drain tube
- Supports correct drainage from the engine-lid rain tray
- Replaces a missing, split or deteriorated sleeve
Technical Details
- Product type: rain tube funnel grommet or rubber sleeve
- Material: silicone
- Installation position: engine shelf or engine tinware
- Quantity required: two per vehicle, one per side
- Supplied quantity: one grommet
Symptoms of Fault
- Rain tray drip tube is loose or displaced
- Grommet is cracked, split, distorted or missing
- Visible gap around the drain tube opening
- Drain tube rubs directly against the engine tinware
- Water is not guided cleanly through the intended drain route
Why Replacement Matters
Renewing a worn or absent grommet restores support for the rain tray tube and closes the opening around it. Replacement is particularly appropriate when servicing the rain tray, drain hoses or adjacent engine-compartment tinware. Inspect both sides, as the vehicle uses two grommets.
FAQs
- How many grommets are required?
Two are used per vehicle, with one fitted on each side. - Is this supplied as a pair?
No. The grommet is supplied individually. - Where is it installed?
It sits in the engine shelf around the rain tray drip tube. - Should related components be inspected?
Check the rain tray funnels, drain hoses and retaining clamps for ageing, damage or incorrect positioning during installation.

The OE Match Rubber Stop for Rear Lid is a replacement rubber buffer designed to support and cushion the rear lid when closed.
Fits:
Mounted at the rear lid or body contact point, the rubber stop helps prevent direct metal-to-metal contact while supporting correct lid positioning. It also helps absorb vibration and minor movement when driving, reducing rattles and protecting surrounding bodywork and latch components from unnecessary impact.
As rubber components age, they can harden, crack, flatten or disappear altogether. Replacing a deteriorated rear lid stop is a simple but important way to restore correct closure, reduce unwanted noise and maintain proper panel positioning.
What This Product Does:
The rear lid rubber stop acts as a small cushioning and support point between the lid and surrounding body structure.
When the lid is closed, the stop compresses slightly to support the panel and absorb movement. This helps keep the lid stable while preventing hard contact between painted or metal components.
Its main functions include:
- Cushioning the rear lid when it closes
- Preventing direct metal-to-metal contact
- Helping support correct rear lid positioning
- Reducing movement and vibration while driving
- Helping prevent rattles and knocking noises
- Protecting surrounding paintwork and body panels
- Reducing unnecessary load and movement at the latch
- Helping maintain consistent panel gaps
- Providing a more solid and refined closing action
Although it is a small component, the rubber stop contributes to both correct panel fit and everyday refinement.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Rubber stops deteriorate naturally through age, heat, compression and exposure to moisture and environmental contaminants.
Common symptoms of a worn or failed rear lid rubber stop include:
- Rubber becoming hard or brittle
- Cracks or splits in the stop
- Stop becoming flattened or permanently compressed
- Pieces of rubber breaking away
- Stop missing completely
- Rear lid rattling over uneven roads
- Knocking or tapping noises from the rear lid
- Excessive movement when the lid is closed
- Lid sitting slightly too low or unevenly
- Poor or inconsistent panel gaps
- Rear lid requiring adjustment to close correctly
- Paint marks or contact points where the lid touches surrounding bodywork
- Increased strain or movement at the latch
- A harsher closing action than normal
Similar symptoms can also result from incorrect latch adjustment, worn hinges or other missing buffers, so the complete rear lid mounting and closure system should be inspected where necessary.
Why Replacement Matters:
- A rear lid should remain securely supported when closed. If the rubber stop becomes compressed, hardened or missing, the panel can move more than intended.
- This movement can create rattles and knocking noises and may allow the lid to contact surrounding bodywork. Over time, repeated contact can damage paintwork and create unnecessary wear around the lid, latch and mounting points.
- A deteriorated stop can also affect how the rear lid sits when closed, potentially resulting in uneven panel gaps or poor alignment.
- Replacing worn rubber stops helps restore the correct cushioning effect and supports the lid in its intended position. This can improve closure quality, reduce unwanted vibration and protect valuable surrounding bodywork.
- For older Porsche models, replacing aged rubber buffers is also worthwhile during restoration, as decades-old rubber may appear intact while having become significantly hardened or compressed.
