What This Product Does
The plate helps contain and direct fan-driven air around the engine. Correctly installed tinware reduces gaps through which cooling air could escape or warm engine-bay air could recirculate.
Functions
- Guides cooling air around the engine assembly
- Closes the specified right-front or left-rear area
- Supports the intended arrangement of the engine tinware
- Helps limit cooling-air leakage through panel gaps
- Provides a replacement for missing, damaged or corroded tinware
Technical Details
- Component type: engine baffle plate or air deflector
- Position: Front Right / Rear Left
- Diagram ref no 20
Symptoms of Fault
- Corrosion, cracks or distortion in the existing plate
- Loose tinware producing rattles or vibration
- Visible gaps between adjoining engine panels
- Missing fixings or poor panel alignment
- Higher or uneven engine temperature behaviour
- Heat affecting nearby parts because airflow is misdirected
Why Replacement Matters
Air-cooled engines depend on correctly positioned tinware to send cooling air where intended. Replacing a missing, distorted or deteriorated baffle helps restore the original panel layout and cooling-air path. Inspect adjoining seals, clips and fasteners during installation, as worn supporting parts may prevent accurate alignment.
FAQs
- Is this baffle only cosmetic?
No. It is a functional part of the engine airflow-control system. - Can damaged or missing tinware affect cooling?
Yes. Gaps may allow cooling air to escape or heated air to circulate back around the engine. - What should be inspected during fitting?
Check the adjoining panels, seals, fixings and alignment, ensuring there is no contact with the fan, belts or ducting. - How many are used on one vehicle?
Two are required per car, covering the front-right and rear-left positions. Each plate is supplied individually.
