Diagram ref no 3
The drive belt tensioner keeps the auxiliary belt under the correct tension as it drives engine accessories such as the alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor, depending on model and engine layout. Correct belt tension helps prevent belt slip, noise, vibration, and premature belt wear.
Functions
• Replaces the drive belt tensioner
• Maintains correct auxiliary belt tension
• Helps keep the belt aligned and stable
• Supports smooth operation of engine-driven accessories
• Helps reduce belt squeal, vibration, and uneven belt wear
• Suitable for drive belt, pulley, or accessory drive service
• OE Match replacement for Porsche belt drive repair.
Why Replace This Part?
Drive belt tensioners are exposed to heat, vibration, spring load, bearing wear, and constant belt movement. A worn or failing tensioner may cause belt squeal, poor belt tracking, accessory drive faults, rattling, weak tension, or premature belt failure. Replacing the tensioner helps restore stable belt operation and supports reliable accessory drive performance.
When to Replace This Part
• The auxiliary drive belt is being replaced
• Belt squeal, vibration, or poor tracking is present
• The tensioner is noisy, weak, loose, seized, or damaged
• Belt tension is incorrect or unstable
• Pulley or tensioner bearing wear is detected
• Accessory drive faults are being investigated
• Preventative replacement is required during major engine service
