Information
Door latch pull cable. Stainless steel pull cable.
This OE Match door latch cable connects the interior door handle/actuation point to the latch, allowing smooth opening of the door from the inside; used to operate the door latch mechanism on classic Porsche 356A T2, 356B and 356C models.
Fits:
Porsche 356A T2
Porsche 356B
Porsche 356C
Diagram ref no 16
The door latch pull cable transfers the pull movement from the interior handle mechanism to the latch, releasing the latch so the door can open.
On classic 356 models, these cables can stretch, fray, corrode, or seize over time due to age, moisture inside the door, and repeated use. A worn cable often causes stiff handle operation, inconsistent latch release, or complete failure to open the door from inside. Replacing the cable with a correctly made OE Match part restores proper handle feel and reliable latch engagement.
A weakened or sticking pull cable can leave you with a door that is difficult to open - or one that won’t open at all from inside. Replacing the cable restores reliable latch release, prevents strain on the handle mechanism, and helps protect the latch assembly from damage caused by forced operation.
When to replace:
• Door won’t open from inside or requires repeated pulls
• Handle feel is stiff, inconsistent, or “spongy”
• Cable shows fraying, corrosion, or kinking
• During door strip-down, refurbishment, or restoration
• After latch or handle mechanism replacement
