Manufactured from 100% carbon fibre, the complete rear engine lid weighs approximately 3.5kg and features the iconic integrated RS-style Ducktail spoiler. The exposed woven carbon construction is protected by a high-quality clear coat, providing a distinctive performance-focused appearance.
Supplied ready for installation, it is an ideal upgrade for classic Porsche 911 restorations, lightweight builds, restomods and motorsport-inspired cars.
What Does the RS Ducktail Do?
The original Porsche 911 Carrera RS Ducktail was developed to improve the car's high-speed aerodynamic behaviour while also helping manage airflow around the rear of the vehicle.
Its raised rear profile alters airflow over the engine lid and reduces aerodynamic lift at the rear compared with a conventional flat engine lid.
Beyond its aerodynamic purpose, the Ducktail has become one of the most recognisable styling features associated with classic high-performance Porsche 911 models.
Why Consider a Carbon Fibre Ducktail?
Replacing a conventional steel engine lid with a lightweight carbon fibre component reduces weight at the rear of the vehicle.
At approximately 3.5kg, the Dansk carbon fibre Ducktail offers significant weight-saving potential depending on the original engine lid being replaced. Reducing unnecessary body weight can contribute towards improved overall vehicle performance, particularly as part of a wider lightweight build.
Benefits include:
- Reduced weight compared with a conventional steel panel
- Approximately 3.5kg total weight
- Iconic Carrera RS-inspired appearance
- Integrated Ducktail spoiler
- Potential reduction in rear aerodynamic lift
- 100% carbon fibre construction
- Exposed woven carbon appearance
- Ideal for lightweight and performance-focused builds
- Combines styling, aerodynamics and weight reduction in one upgrade
100% Carbon Fibre Construction
The rear engine lid is manufactured entirely from carbon fibre, providing an excellent combination of low weight, strength and rigidity.
Carbon fibre allows a large body panel such as the engine lid to be produced with considerably less weight than a conventional steel equivalent, making it particularly attractive for performance-oriented Porsche builds.
Clear-Coated Carbon Finish
The characteristic woven carbon fibre structure remains visible beneath a high-quality clear coat.
This creates a distinctive exposed-carbon appearance that
works particularly well on restomods and motorsport-inspired cars. The panel
can also form part of a wider lightweight carbon fibre body package.
Carbon Fibre Without the Carbon Fibre Look
Not every lightweight Porsche build needs visible carbon fibre.
This version is specifically intended to be painted, making it ideal for classic Porsche owners who want the performance advantages of lightweight carbon construction while maintaining the original appearance of the vehicle.
Once prepared and painted in the correct body colour, the carbon construction remains hidden beneath the finish.
RS-Inspired Styling
Few exterior features are as closely associated with the classic Porsche 911 as the Ducktail.
Its distinctive profile immediately gives the rear of the
car a more purposeful appearance inspired by the legendary Carrera RS, making
it an excellent choice for RS-inspired conversions as well as bespoke classic
Porsche builds.
Carbon Fibre RS Ducktail Engine Lids
A carbon fibre RS Ducktail is an effective upgrade for classic Porsche 911 owners looking to combine lightweight construction with one of Porsche's most recognisable motorsport-inspired designs.
Unlike simply adding a spoiler to an existing steel engine lid, the Dansk component combines the rear lid and Ducktail in a lightweight 100% carbon fibre assembly weighing approximately 3.5kg.
For Porsche 911 RS-inspired builds, restomods and performance projects, the carbon Ducktail provides three key benefits in a single component: reduced weight, distinctive Carrera RS styling and an aerodynamic rear profile.
