Information
Carpet retainer just inside the door - Black finish (ribbed)
This Carpet Retainer is an OE-style interior trim strip designed to secure and finish the edge of the carpet along the door sill area in classic Porsche models. Designed for left or right-side fitment, the retainer integrates seamlessly with the vehicle’s interior trim and is typically used in pairs for a complete installation.
Sold each.
Fits:
Porsche 911 1965 - 1989
Porsche 964 >>1990
This OE match carpet retainer is a direct replacement for the original Porsche sill trim strip used in 911 and early 964 models. Installed just inside the door opening, it holds the edge of the interior carpet firmly in place while providing a clean, finished transition between the carpet and door threshold.
Manufactured in a black ribbed finish, this version replicates the factory appearance used in many models, offering both durability and period-correct styling. The ribbed aluminium construction ensures strength while maintaining a lightweight design.
This trim strip secures the carpet edge along the sill, preventing lifting, fraying, or movement. It also enhances the visual finish of the interior by covering raw carpet edges and providing a neat, factory-correct appearance.
Function
• Secures carpet edges along the door sill
• Prevents carpet movement, lifting, or fraying
• Provides a clean and finished interior edge
• Protects carpet from wear at entry points
• Enhances interior appearance with OE-style trim
Carpet retainers are exposed to frequent foot traffic and can become scratched, loose, or corroded over time. A worn or missing retainer can allow the carpet to shift or fray, detracting from the interior’s appearance. Replacing it restores both functionality and the original factory look.
When to replace
• Carpet edge is loose or lifting
• Retainer is scratched, bent, or corroded
• During interior restoration or carpet replacement
• Missing or incorrectly fitted trim strip
• Visible wear in door entry areas
