Information
Chain cover rubber sealing plug.
The rubber sealing ring (thrust ring) used in the timing-chain assembly of Porsche 911 (964) and 911 (993) models. Its manufactured to the same dimensions, material quality, and performance standards as the original Porsche part. It installs directly without modification, restoring a perfect seal around the timing-chain cover studs/bolts.
Sold each, 18 required per vehicle
Fits:
Porsche 964 C2 / C4 / Turbo 1989 - 1994
Porsche 993 1995 - 1998
Diagram ref no 17
• Position: It is located on the timing-chain cover / chain case, around stud/bolt interfaces.
• Function: Provides a tight seal around the stud/bolt interface of the timing-chain cover or chain-case, preventing oil escape and blocking the ingress of dirt or moisture.
Over time, rubber seals degrade (due to heat, oil exposure, age) and lose their ability to keep a perfect seal. When this ring is worn or flattened, oil can seep or leak from the chain-case cover, or contaminants may ingress. A leak here may lead to oil loss, dirty chain-case internals, poor lubrication of the chain or guides, and increased wear or noise in the timing system.
Replace this rubber sealing when:
• Whenever the timing-chain cover or chain-case is removed or serviced.
• If you observe oil seeping from around the cover bolt/stud area, or notice oil spots, chain case cover looseness or cover gasket replacement being unavoidable.
• As part of routine engine rebuilds or maintenance where timing cover is accessed.
• When performing an engine overhaul or replacing timing components – replacing all seals ensures full integrity upon reassembly.
