Manufactured from high-strength spring steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, the retainer is engineered to withstand continual exposure to moisture, road salt, dirt and vibration without losing its clamping force. Precision-formed to match the original factory dimensions, it provides direct OE-style fitment and is ideal for brake hose replacement, brake system repairs and vehicle restoration projects.
What This Product Does:
- Secures the rear flexible brake hose in its mounting bracket.
- Prevents movement of the brake hose during suspension travel.
- Maintains the correct alignment between the brake hose and rigid brake pipe.
- Helps protect the brake hose from excessive stress and vibration.
- Ensures a secure and reliable brake hose installation.
- Resists corrosion and long-term wear.
- Restores factory brake hose retention.
- Forms an essential part of the rear braking system.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Loose or unsecured rear brake hose.
- Excessive movement of the brake hose.
- Corroded or weakened retaining spring.
- Missing brake hose retaining clip.
- Brake hose becoming misaligned.
- Increased wear on the brake hose due to movement.
- Difficulty securing the brake hose during servicing.
- Rattling or vibration around the brake hose mounting.
- Visible rust or deformation of the spring clip.
- MOT or vehicle inspection concerns relating to insecure brake line components.
Why Replacement Matters:
- The brake hose retainer spring is continually exposed to water, road salt, dirt, brake dust and constant vibration. Over time, corrosion and metal fatigue can reduce its clamping force or cause it to break, allowing the brake hose to move within its mounting bracket.
- A loose or missing retainer spring can place unnecessary strain on the brake hose and its connections, increasing the risk of premature hose wear, leaks or damage. Maintaining the correct position of the brake hose is essential for reliable braking performance and long-term safety.
- Replacing a worn or damaged retainer with the OE Match Rear Brake Hose Retainer Spring restores the secure mounting of the brake hose and helps protect the braking system from unnecessary wear. Manufactured to OE standards using premium spring steel, this replacement clip provides factory-style fitment, excellent corrosion resistance and dependable long-term performance, ensuring the safety and reliability expected from your Porsche.

Engineered using high-quality reinforced materials, this OE Match brake hose is built to withstand the high hydraulic pressures and demanding operating conditions experienced during everyday driving and spirited road use. It delivers dependable braking performance while maintaining the precise pedal feel expected from a Porsche braking system.
What Does the Brake Hose Do?
The brake hose is a vital component of the hydraulic braking system. It connects the fixed metal brake pipes to the moving brake calipers, allowing suspension and steering movement while maintaining constant hydraulic pressure.
Its primary functions include:
- Transferring brake fluid under high pressure.
- Allowing suspension and steering movement.
- Maintaining consistent brake pedal feel.
- Supporting Porsche ABS and PSM systems.
- Delivering reliable hydraulic braking performance.
- Providing safe, leak-free operation under all driving conditions.
Without a correctly functioning brake hose, hydraulic pressure cannot be delivered safely to the brake caliper, reducing braking efficiency and vehicle safety.
Why Do Brake Hoses Fail?
Brake hoses are exposed to constant movement, heat and
environmental conditions. Over time they naturally deteriorate. Common causes
include:
- Age-related rubber degradation.
- Internal hose deterioration.
- Heat from the braking system.
- Exposure to moisture, road salt and contaminants.
- Surface cracking.
- Abrasion against suspension components.
- Internal swelling restricting brake fluid flow.
- Corrosion around hose fittings.
As brake hoses age, they can become less flexible, reducing braking performance and increasing the risk of hydraulic failure.
When Should the Brake Hose Be Replaced?
Replacement is recommended whenever:
- Visible cracks appear in the hose.
- The hose shows signs of swelling or bulging.
- Brake fluid leaks develop.
- The hose becomes damaged through abrasion.
- The braking system is undergoing major refurbishment.
- Brake calipers are being replaced.
- During preventative maintenance on older vehicles.
- Whenever deterioration is identified during servicing.
Many Porsche specialists recommend replacing ageing brake hoses in axle pairs to maintain balanced braking performance and consistent hydraulic response.

Having an extremely high boiling point and lower viscosity than required, it meets and greatly exceeds regulatory standards. Also suitable for vehicles with ABS.
Vapour Lock formation
This sort of habit leaves room for the Vapour Lock, the formation of vapour bubbles due to boiling of the brake fluid that replace the normal fluid and are compressed, thereby sending the brake pedal to its fill stoke (spongy pedal). The origin is incident in the porosity of the tubes that make up the braking circuit, which in time draw moisture into the fluid, drastically reducing the boiling point. The result is a reduced braking efficiency.
Brembo Premium Brake Fluid
Brembo Premium brake fluids have a higher boiling point that exceeds the standard, thus offering superior resistance to the Vapour Lock and ensuring braking efficiency even at low temperatures. With high anti-corrosion properties and resistance to oxidation, Brembo brake fluid also allows for long-term unaltered chemical/physical characteristics of the fluid in operating circuit; therefore, preserving its integrity.
