Constructed from high-quality stainless steel with a precision-engineered internal drive cable, the antenna rod is designed to extend and retract smoothly when the radio is switched on or off. It provides reliable operation while maintaining excellent AM/FM radio signal reception and preserving the factory appearance of the vehicle.
What This Product Does:
- Restores the operation of the automatic power antenna.
- Extends and retracts automatically with the vehicle's radio system.
- Improves AM/FM radio signal reception.
- Replaces damaged or worn antenna mast assemblies.
- Maintains the original appearance of the vehicle.
- Supports smooth and quiet antenna operation.
- Eliminates the need to replace the complete antenna assembly.
- Forms an essential part of the automatic antenna mechanism.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Antenna fails to extend or retract fully.
- Grinding or clicking noises from the antenna motor.
- Bent or damaged antenna mast.
- Broken internal drive cable.
- Poor AM/FM radio reception.
- Antenna becoming stuck in the extended or retracted position.
- Slow or intermittent antenna movement.
- Corrosion or damage to the mast sections.
- Motor operating without antenna movement.
- Reduced appearance due to a damaged antenna.
Why Replacement Matters:
- Automatic antenna assemblies are exposed to harsh weather, dirt, moisture and repeated operating cycles throughout the life of the vehicle. Over time, the antenna mast can become bent, corroded or damaged, while the internal nylon drive cable may wear or break, preventing proper operation.
- A faulty antenna rod can reduce radio reception and place unnecessary strain on the antenna motor, potentially leading to failure of the complete automatic antenna assembly. Replacing only the internal rod is often a cost-effective solution that restores normal operation without replacing the entire unit.
- Replacing a worn or damaged internal antenna rod restores smooth automatic extension and retraction, improves radio reception and preserves the original factory appearance. An OE Match replacement provides factory-style fitment, durable construction and reliable long-term performance, helping maintain the convenience and functionality expected from your Porsche.

The antenna insert forms the visible telescopic mast section of the aerial assembly. It provides the reception point for AM/FM radio signals while maintaining the classic period-correct look of the vehicle. Over time, original antenna masts can become bent, corroded, seized or damaged, reducing reception quality and affecting the appearance of the car.
What Does the Manual Antenna Insert Do?
The manual retractable antenna insert allows the radio aerial to extend and retract by hand.
It helps provide:
- Reliable radio signal reception
- Manual extension and retraction
- Original exterior appearance
- Correct aerial height when in use
- Compact storage when retracted
- Factory-style fitment for classic Porsche models
Why Do Manual Antenna Inserts Fail?
Manual antenna inserts are exposed to weather, dirt and repeated movement.
Common causes of failure include:
- Bent or damaged mast sections
- Corrosion
- Dirt build-up between telescopic sections
- Seized mast operation
- Impact damage
- Age-related wear
- Poor lubrication
- Water ingress
When Should It Be Replaced?
Replacement is recommended when:
- The antenna is bent or broken
- The mast no longer extends smoothly
- The antenna will not fully retract
- Radio reception is poor
- Corrosion is visible
- The mast is loose or worn
- Restoring the vehicle to factory appearance
- Replacing missing or damaged exterior trim
Why Replacement Matters
A damaged antenna can affect both reception quality and vehicle appearance.
Benefits of replacement include:
- Improved radio reception
- Smooth manual operation
- Restored original appearance
- Better exterior presentation
- Cost-effective repair
- Ideal for restoration projects
- Helps retain factory-style detail
