Air pump
This Porsche Genuine OE Secondary Air Pump is an original factory emissions-control component designed for Porsche 986 Boxster and Porsche 911 (996) models. This pump is part of the Secondary Air Injection (SAI) system, which works with the engine management and catalytic converters to reduce exhaust emissions during cold engine start-up.

The secondary air pump injects fresh air into the exhaust system immediately after a cold start. The additional oxygen helps burn unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust gases, allowing the catalytic converters to reach their operating temperature more quickly and significantly reducing harmful emissions.
The pump operates automatically under control of the engine control unit (ECU) and works together with air valves and sensors to maintain efficient emissions performance.
