- Porsche 911 1968-1973 2.2L / 2.4L / 2.7L RS LWB (F)
The set includes 6 intake manifold gasket pieces - enough to replace all applicable intake sealing locations when performing major engine or intake work on early Porsche. Intake manifold gaskets form the seal between the cylinder head and intake manifold. They prevent unmetered air leaks, maintain engine vacuum, and help ensure that the correct air-fuel mixture enters each cylinder.

Intake manifold gaskets create the seal between the intake manifold flanges and the cylinder head. They prevent unmetered air and vacuum leaks that can upset combustion, reduce engine efficiency, and cause rough running. Proper intake gaskets ensure that the correct air and fuel charge enters each cylinder for optimal performance.
Function. When installed correctly, these gaskets:
• Seal the intake manifold to the cylinder head to prevent air and vacuum leaks
• Maintain consistent airflow into the intake ports
• Support stable idle and throttle response
• Reduce risk of detonation, poor fuel economy, and rough running.
Over time, intake gaskets may become brittle or compressed from heat cycles and age. Replacing them - especially in sets during rebuild or service - helps restore proper sealing and engine efficiency.
Intake manifold gaskets are critical for proper engine breathing and vacuum integrity. Worn, hardened, or leaking gaskets can cause:
• Vacuum leaks and unstable idle
• Hesitation or stumbling under acceleration
• Poor fuel economy
• Increased exhaust emissions
• Difficulty tuning carbureted or fuel-injected systems.
Replacing these gaskets in a complete set ensures all surfaces are sealed correctly, improves engine smoothness, and reduces the risk of running issues often misdiagnosed as other mechanical problems.
When to Replace. It’s recommended to replace intake manifold gaskets when:
• Performing major engine service or a cylinder head rebuild
• Intake manifold has been removed or loosened
• You notice hissing sounds or rough idle
• Vacuum gauge shows unstable readings
• Rubber/composite gasket surfaces show cracks, compression set, or distortion
• Engine has high mileage or long service life
